THE CRIPPLE OF INISHMAAN
On stage 3 June to 14 June
Tickets are now on sale for Titirangi Theatre's next production: The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh, directed by Paul Roukchan.
On the small island of Inishmaan off the coast of Ireland, there’s not much to do. Cripple, Billy Claven, raised by his aunties, endures a lonely life, teased by the locals - including the fiery Slippy Helen and her brother Bartley. Life takes an unexpected turn in 1934 when Hollywood filmmaker arrives on neighbouring Inishmore to shoot a documentary about life on the Aran Islands.
Desperate to escape the gossip, poverty, and boredom of Inishmaan, Billy seizes the opportunity to audition for the film. To everyone’s surprise, the orphaned outcast gets his chance... or so some believe.
Celebrated playwright Martin McDonagh (In Bruges, The Banshees of Inisherin) brings his dark, fast-paced humour to this award-winning play. The Cripple of Inishmaan is ingeniously funny and suspenseful - you won’t want to miss it!
This production will be brought to life by a talented cast of experienced local actors and will be on stage from 3 June to 14 June at Titirangi Theatre in West Auckland.
If you're a fan of McDonagh’s film work, you won’t want to miss seeing his theatrical genius live on stage.
